Introduction:

The Raman Charpak for PhD is a prestigious fellowship that enables Indian and French Ph.D. students to conduct research in each other’s countries, fostering scientific cooperation between India and France. Named after two Nobel laureates, Sir C.V. Raman and Georges Charpak, the fellowship offers financial support for up to two years of research in a recognized institution in France.

Programs:

The Raman Charpak Fellowship offers Ph.D. students in Science and Technology the opportunity to undertake research in a recognized institution in France. The fellowship is open to all fields of study in Science and Technology. The program offers two types of fellowships:

  1. Incoming Fellowship: This fellowship is for Indian Ph.D. students who wish to carry out research in a recognized institution in France for a period of up to 24 months.
  2. Outgoing Fellowship: This fellowship is for French Ph.D. students who wish to carry out research in a recognized institution in India for a period of up to 10 months.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Raman Charpak Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. The applicant must be an Indian or French citizen.
  2. The applicant must be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Science and Technology at a recognized institution in India or France.
  3. The applicant must have completed at least two years of their Ph.D. program at the time of application.
  4. The applicant must have a valid admission/acceptance letter from a recognized institution in France or India for conducting research.
  5. The applicant must be 35 years of age or below at the time of application.
  6. The applicant must possess excellent academic credentials and have a strong research background.

Scholarship value:

The Raman Charpak for PhD Fellowship provides financial assistance to cover the following expenses:

  1. A monthly stipend of €1,200 for living expenses in France.
  2. Health insurance coverage.
  3. A round-trip economy-class airfare between India and France.
  4. An allowance of €1,000 for visa and airport transit.
  5. The French institution hosting the fellow will waive the tuition fees.

Deadline:
