Vancouver Island University (VIU) offers the Carpentry Foundation certificate program to equip students with fundamental skills and knowledge for a construction career. The program emphasizes hands-on training, allowing students to work extensively in the shop and on job sites. VIU’s Cowichan campus provides the 28-week Foundation certificate program.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Foundation program, applicants must have a grade 10 or equivalent education. Carpentry program requires physical ability for hands-on training. Additionally, applicants must be able to provide their own steel-toed work boots and safety glasses.
